Why the rose?
The Quiet Rose is me.
For a long time, I became quiet.
Not because I had nothing to say, but because somewhere along the way, silence began to feel safer than speaking.
I learned to question myself.
To make myself smaller.
To ignore my own boundaries.
To survive things I should never have had to survive.
But a rose does not stop being a rose simply because it stops blooming.
Sometimes it just needs the right conditions to come back to life.
Warm water.
Light.
Care.
Time.
And slowly, it begins to lift its head again.
That is what this journey has been for me.
Learning to give myself the things I spent so long looking for in other people: safety, kindness, patience, respect and love.
The thorns are part of my story. They represent the pain, the wounds and everything I have survived.
But they are not the whole story.
Because behind the thorns, there is still a rose.
And she is growing again.
The Quiet Rose is a place for the things I once kept silent.
I write about emotional abuse, unhealthy relationships, anxiety, trauma, boundaries, love, healing — and the complicated journey of finding yourself again after losing pieces of yourself along the way.
I am not writing because I have reached some perfect destination.
I am still learning.
Still healing.
Still making mistakes.
Still discovering what it means to choose myself.
And that is important to me.
I want this to be an honest story about healing while it is happening — not only a story told once everything has been neatly repaired.
If something I write helps another person recognise what they are living through, feel less alone, trust their own feelings, set one boundary, or take one small step toward themselves, then sharing my story has a purpose.
I write under the name Rose Silen because this story is deeply personal.
Anonymity gives me the freedom to tell the truth while protecting the people and private lives connected to my story.
The names and identifying details may be hidden.
The experiences, emotions and lessons are not.
They are real.
This blog is not about remaining quiet.
It is about what happens when the quiet rose begins to bloom again.
When she finds her voice.
When she learns that boundaries are not cruelty.
When she stops confusing love with suffering.
When she understands that choosing herself does not mean she has stopped loving others.
And when, little by little, she begins creating a life that feels like her own.
Behind the thorns, a rose still grows.
And this is the story of mine.
